Iqbal Aflaki , leader and co-leader of Iranian National Expeditions
to Himalaya in 2003 and 2005 was selected as the head of Sport Climbing
Committee of IMF.
Aflaki was in charge of this committee from 1995 to 2002. Since then
he designated as the head of Expedition Committee of IRAN
Mountaineering Federation.
Two days ago , Sadegh Aghajani head of IMF appointed him to his
new position in Sport Climbing Committee of IMF.

Seminar on Mountain Medicine - Winter course
Medical Committee of IMF is going to held a mountain medicine seminar
on January 2006 .
The seminar will be held in Ramsar at northern slopes of Mount Samamous
, where practical aspects of winter alpinism is taught as well as
theoretical subjects .
Medical Center of Iran Olympic Academy , Division of Sports Medicine
at the University of Tehran , Sports Medicine Federation and Medical
Committee of Iran Mountaineering Federation will support the seminar.

Announcing the shots of second IMZ photo exhibition
Selected shots by visitors of second IMZ mountain photo exhibition
were praised at the the end of mountain photography session on December 12.
"Life after Death" by Oshin D. Zakarian in Mountain
landscapes , "Dignity" by Babak Bahraminejad in Mountain
sports and "Beauty and unkindness" by Hussein Nazar
in Living in the mountains as the selected shots by visitors
of exhibition were praised and gifted.
During the session , Ahmad
Vokhshoori , veteran photographer lectured on mountain photography
and 150 shots from 33 photographers were shown in a slide show on
mountains of Iran.
The session held in Beethoven auditorium of Iran Artists Organization
on December 12 evening.

Alpine Club of Iran celebrated IMD
Alpine club of Iran and Ararat sport-culture club celebrated International
Mountain Day in a gathering in Tehran.
The gathering held at auditorium of Ararat club at the evening of
December 11,2005.
A large group of audience including officials and members of Alpine
club of Iran had participated in the meeting , where few articles
on importance of mountains and challenges in high lands presented.
Also a brief history of mountaineering in Iran was presented and
Gegham Minasian , Jalil Katibei and Nikol Faridani were praised
for their long-term activity on mountains of Iran and their impacts
on modern mountaineering in Iran.

Second Iran Mountain Zone Photo Exhibition
Second Iran Mountain Zone Photo Exhibition will be held at Tajrobeh
gallery of Iran Artists Organization in Tehran from December 10
to 15, 2005. Iran Mountain Zone is organizing this
group photo exhibition to celebrate
International Mountain Day
(December 11) with cooperation of Iran Artists Organization and Alpine club
of Iran. Thirty shots from 14 photographers -out of 299 shots from
33 photographers - have selected to be shown in the exhibition,
which have been sent to exhibition secretariat due to Call for Entries.
Selected shots are among photos of Mariam Bakhshi, Alireza Behpour,
Babak Bahraminejad, Kianoosh FarhadiNejad, Nicol Faridani, Mohammad
Hajabolfath, Seyed Hamid Hashemi, Ehsan Jamali, Amir Jozdani, Peyman
Khalafbeygi, Hussain Nazar, Aso Seyed Younesi, Mehri Shirboti and Oshin
Zakarian on three themes of “Mountain Nature”, “Living
in the Mountains” and “Mountain Sports”.
The exhibition will be opened up on Saturday, December 10 at 17:00
and is open to public up to December 15.
There is also a Slide Show and Mountain Photography Session at Beethoven
Auditorium of Iran Artists Organization on December 12 at 17:00.
The gathering is open to public when more than 100 shots from 33
photographers will be showed up.
It is worth mentioning that the first Iran Mountain Zone Photo Exhibition
held at the same gallery in December 2003.

Mohammad Jafari took the bronze in the 1st Asian Indoor Games
During the 1st Asian Indoor Games in Thailand, Mohammad Jafari,
the Iranian sport climber, took the bronze in men’s difficulty
competition.
There were 38 men and 28 women climbers who had participated in
difficulty class of sport climbing competition in the 1st Asian
Indoor Games in Thailand on November 14-16, where Korean Sang won
Son won the gold medal and Chinese Changzhong Liu and Iranian Mohammad
Jafari stood afterward in Men’s class. Amir Pirveisi the other
Iranian who competed in final round stood at the sixth spot.
There was another Korean Ja In Kim who grabbed the gold medal of
women’s difficulty. Hiu Ying Liu and Liping Huang from Hong
kong and China stood at the second and third spots in women’s
class respectively. Two Iranian women climbers ranked 21 and 24.
They were Indonesian climbers who took three out of six medals in
speed class including the gold medal of women. A Chinese climber
ranked first in the men’s speed class.
Fereydoon Esmaeilzadeh , veteran mountaineer and one of the old
and active Iranian mountaineers died in Shariati hospital in Tehran
Monday morning . Few months ago , doctors found that he has blood
cancer , which finally caused his death on November 7 morning .
His body will be buried at Behesht-e-Zahra cemetery in Tehran on Friday
November 11.

Second IMZ’s Mountain
Photo Exhibition in celebration of IMD
Iran Mountain Zone is organizing a mountain photo exhibition to celebrate
International Mountain Day (IMD, December11). Exhibition will be held
at Iranian Artists’ Forum in Tehran on December 10-15, 2005.
Every interested photographer is invited to submit his/her shots for
the show, which is a group exposition on mountains of Iran.
It will be the second IMZ’s Mountain Photo Exhibition, where
the first one was held with cooperation of Iranian Artist’s
Forum to show up the photos of 10 photographers from all over the
country on December 2003.
