Standing 66 km north-east of capital, Mount Damavand is visible from Tehran in clear weathers. Its 5671-m peak is the highest point in the country. Also the fact that mount Damavand is the highest volcano in Asia, puts its name in the seven volcanic summits' list! So, scaling Damavand is a must to realize your dream of summitting all highest volcanoes of seven continents. If you wish to ascend this beautiful and conic shape stratovolcano, we offer you the classic south route as the most guaranteed way up to the peak.
South route is the most common route up Damavand. It is accessible by some 2 or 3 hours drive from Tehran via Haraz road. Two camp sites at 3000 m (Goosfand sara) and 4150 m (Bargah sevom) are there in the route, where mules and porters will carry all of your equipment up to 4150 m hut .
Starting from Tehran, we will follow the south route and spend enough time for acclimatization to access the summit easily.
Also spending last day in Tehran will provide you a chance to explore the capital in a brief tour.

Scaling Damavand from south route is not a technical climb. It just needs good health and stamina as well as ability to trek in altitudes.

The best season to ascend mount Damavand is June to September. In this season weather condition is usually stable, though there could be snowfall even in mid summer.

Day 1 : Arrival in Tehran; Check in at hotel
Day 2 : Drive to Goosfand-sara (3000 m Base camp of mount Damavand); overnight at camp
Day 3 : Trek up to Bargah-Sevom (4150 m hut); overnight at camp
Day 4 : Acclimatization day; Trek up to 4900 m and back to hut; overnight at camp
Day 5 : Summit day; summiting the peak and back to hut; overnight at camp
Day 6 : Descend to Goosfand-sara and drive back to Tehran; overnight at hotel
Day 7 : Sightseeing in the capital; overnight at hotel
Day 8 : Departure from Tehran

There are few 4000-ers in Middle Alborz you can choose for acclimatization prior to your summit trial. Contact us for arrangements if you are interested to explore the Alborz range more.
You can do Ski Mountaineering in Damavand during December to May (Since the amount of snow varies from year to year, it's better to call us for snow amount, prior to your planning). More than 2500 meters downhill skiing would be a fantastic experience you never forget!
If you are going to visit Iran during October to April, don't hesitate to spend few more days to visit central desert of Iran. There is a beautiful salt lake and a big area covered with sand dunes, just less than 200 km away from the damn cold snowcapped Damavand.
